ABOUT OUR EXPEDITIONS
Wildlife Encounters. Inuit Culture. Living on the land. Remote, untouched locations. A complete Arctic experience like none other.
This is what our land-based expeditions are all about. All our Arctic expedition locations and itineraries are built on 10 years of our own personal exploration and experiences, from aerial scouting to research studies, and on the skill and knowledge of the local Inuit guides we work with. For this trip, we have chosen our favourite locations, giving the most intimate and real Arctic experience possible, where 'getting there' is half the adventure.
Land-based expeditions mean that we are not on a cruise ship -- you will travel on the land, you will live on the land, see the life of the land and you will explore the land with our experienced expedition leaders/naturalists and local Inuit guides. We leave for our ice or land camp destination from an Inuit community and travel over land, ice or water and live out on the land for the duration of the expedition. We believe that this is the best way to experience all the Arctic has to offer, from animals to Inuit culture, up close and personal.
By offering land-based expeditions, we are able to peel beneath the arctic surface and allow you to see the life that exists all around - from whales to polar bears to the flowering flora that dot the summer landscape. Best of all, it is the Arctic people - the Inuit who have lived in this harsh yet stunningly beautiful region for thousands of years -- that guide you through your arctic experience. We work and partner closely with the local Inuit communities in coordinating our expeditions. Watching our guides follow polar bear tracks, or scan the horizon from a stack of pack ice, you can learn and see the skills 'in-action' that have allowed them to survive for eons.
