Words cannot describe the thrill of climbing an iceberg. These awesome behemoths tower above the Arctic landscape, providing a climbing experience that is truly unique in all the world.
Climbing an iceberg is no easy matter. 'Free floating' icebergs, as their name suggests float independently in the Arctic seas. They are extremely dangerous, liable to shift or flip over unexpectedly, taking a hapless climber with them. 'Stuck' icebergs, jammed up against an ice floe, may seem more stable, but are prone to the same sorts of problems. Arctic Kingdom organizes expeditions to climb grounded icebergs. These icebergs have run up against land, providing a more stable climbing surface. There are still many dangers, however, including cracked ice, water slides, and unexpected holes, which may be as deep as the iceberg is high. As with all of our activities, we provide the skills and practical knowledge you need for as safe an experience as possible.
We have organized trips that combined both diving and ice climbing, but such a combination of skills and interests is rare to say the least! Please contact us for more information.
