Foxe Basin - Nunavut
The nutrient-rich waters of Foxe Basin teem with life. Canada's largest population of walrus, numbering over six thousand, thrive year-round in the basin's shallow polynyas. The basin also provides a vital summering ground for Beluga, Narwhal and Bowhead whales. The shallow coastal waters provide calving grounds for the Bowheads.
