Louise Murray is trained as a biologist and is very knowledgeable about the lives of the animals that make the north their home, with specific expertise in the environmental issues unique to this important region. Louise has traveled to Svalbard several times, to the rarely visited Franz Josef land in Russia, to northern Greenland, and extensively throughout Nunavut.

Based in London, Louise has a passion for natural history and has worked worldwide as a photojournalist for the last fifteen years. She writes on science and conservation for The Times, the Guardian, Geographical, BBC Wildlife and Focus amongst others in the UK and Europe and as far afield as China and especially enjoys writing for children. Her photography has been published all over the world as one of the most experienced still photographers specializing in the high Arctic and can offer much advice and recommendations to photographers both before and during arctic expeditions.

Louise is a certified commercial diver with over twenty years of diving under her belt and has considerable ice diving experience, having led dive expeditions to Franz Josef land in Russia in 2003 and Lancaster Sound in 2004 , 2006 and 2007.
